4211 YONGE STREET North York, Ontario

The challenge in the design of this major office facility for Co-operator's Insurance on the Yonge Street corridor in North York was to accommodate complex program requirements on an irregular site with severe height limitations. The building therefore sprawls across the site to utilize the available building area, and it is articulated by an entry courtyard that provides a strong sense of arrival and also allows light into the large floor plates. Horizontal bands of precast concrete cladding, and recessed corners at the top floor that create usable terraces combine to give the building its dynamic character.
